LERSA Holds Strategic Meeting with Eti-Osa Local Government Leadership

The Lekki Estates Residents and Stakeholders Association (LERSA) today held a strategic meeting with the Executive Chairman of Eti-Osa Local Government, Hon (Dr.) Omoba Alimot Adeola Adetoro who was represented by the Executive Vice Chairman Hon. Idowu Badru who led other very senior government functionaries to the meeting, as part of efforts to strengthen collaboration and address key issues affecting residents and businesses across the Lekki corridor.


The LERSA delegation was led by its President, Alhaji (Chief) Sulyman Bello, who stated that the visit was aimed at familiarising the Association with the current local government leadership while establishing a strong working relationship to advance sustainable development within the Lekki axis.


During the meeting, Mrs. Bolaji Osime, Chairman of the Education Committee, presented the ongoing Lekki Youth Skill Programme Initiative, a partnership between LERSA and the various Local Councils across the Lekki Peninsula. She highlighted the programme's success in equipping young people with technical and vocational skills and encouraged Eti-Osa Local Government to adopt the initiative to expand youth empowerment opportunities within the council area. She also sensitized meeting about other collaborative initiatives in the pipeline, for imminent implementation between LERSA, Local Councils, the many Manufacturing Organizations on the Lekki Peninsula and the Federal Ministry of Education.


Addressing environmental concerns, Mrs. Ronke Akinsete, Chairman of the Environment Committee, highlighted the recurring flooding in the Agungi–Ajiran, Olayinka Abiola Street and other communities and the indiscriminate dumping of waste along the Lekki-Epe Expressway. She appealed for the local government's support in clearing drainage channels, improving waste management, and beautifying canals and road medians.


On infrastructure and security, Pastor Adewale Aderoju, Chairman of the Infrastructure Committee, sought the support of the local government in partnering with LERSA to complete the Ogombo Overnight Police Shelter, noting that the project would significantly enhance security within the community.


Other issues presented by the Association included:


* Flooding and improved drainage infrastructure.

* Effective waste management and the elimination of indiscriminate refuse dumping.

* The increasing presence of street urchins along the Lekki-Epe Expressway.

* Rehabilitation of Chevron Drive.

* Illegal street trading.

* Infrastructure development.

* Strengthening security across the Lekki corridor.


Responding to the presentations, Hon. Idowu Badru welcomed the LERSA delegation and commended the Association for its proactive engagement in community development. He reaffirmed the commitment of the Eti-Osa Local Government to working closely with LERSA and other stakeholders to address the identified challenges and improve the quality of life for residents.


The meeting concluded with both parties expressing optimism about building a stronger partnership to deliver sustainable solutions for the Lekki corridor.


The vote of thanks was delivered by Mrs. Ibiye Ekong, Chairman of the Stakeholder Engagement Committee, who expressed appreciation to the Executive Vice Chairman and his team for hosting the delegation and reaffirmed LERSA's commitment to constructive engagement with government at all levels.


The LERSA Delegation presented a commemorative plaque to the Executive Chairman of the council, Omoba (Dr.) Alimot Adeola Adetoro pledging the support and fellowship of all members.
